John T. Murphy

John T. Murphy photo John T. Murphy is a researcher at Argonne National Laboratory in the Decision and Information Sciences Division, and jointly at the University of Chicago Computation Institute. His specialty is social science simulation, especially on high-performance computing platforms. He holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Arizona, where he studied Archaeology and Cultural Anthropology. His major research is on the Hohokam of Southern Arizona, who constructed and operated an extensive irrigation network from roughly 400 to 1400 CE. He has contributed extensively to the Repast HPC toolkit. He is currently working on projects related to contemporary water management in the US Southwest and Pacific Northwest.
