Accepted submissions to our conference are presented in one of three ways: as a paper presentation, as an extended abstract presentation, or as a poster. Our policy on presenters is as follows:
– Each presentation must have a unique presenter.
– Each presentation must be associated with a unique conference registration.
– Each poster must have a unique presenter.
– A single person may present both a paper (or extended abstract) and a poster.
Note that there may be minor changes to these times as the final schedule comes together.
For Paper and Extended Abstract Presentations:
Our paper presentation time slots are typically 30 minutes in total. Extended abstract presentations will be allocated 20 minutes in total. Paper presenters usually use between 15-20 minutes for speaking and leave the remainder for questions from the audience – extended abstract presenters should scale their speaking time accordingly. If a presentation runs long, it will have less time for questions – however, one of the key aspects of a single track conference such as ours is that the questions frequently lead to subsequent discussion which benefits both the presenter and the society as a whole. Slides are welcome – it is typically easier to use your own laptop to show them. We will provide a clicker, an assortment of dongles and adapters for connectivity, a projector and a screen, and a microphone (as needed).
Full Paper presentations (as opposed to Extended Abstract presentations) are eligible for conference proceedings publication. A camera-ready version of the paper is due 10/1/2025. Please follow the guidelines from our website https://computationalsocialscience.org/instructions-for-authors/ and submit the full package in the Meteor system. If you would like to opt out of the conference proceedings publication, please email board@computationalsocialscience.org before 9/15/2025.
For Posters:
Our poster session is catered with drinks and small bites. Poster presenters are encouraged to stand near their poster and discuss with anyone that happens by. Posters are may be no bigger than 48in * 36in and no more than 48in wide – and are ideally at least 30in on each side. Landscape orientation is fine, but our space is often constrained so if you can use portrait orientation then so much the better. Printing poster and getting them to the conference is the responsibility of the attendee. Note that since posters are not eligible for inclusion in the proceedings, no “final submission” is necessary. Finally, just before the poster session, we invite presenters to give a 60 second “lightning talk” teaser with a single slide to the full audience. These slides are collected onsite during the conference.
